Welcome to Social Studies 9!
This page is designed to help you successfully navigate this course.
Social Studies in Grade 9 involves examining a variety of Historical and Geographical aspects. In this class it is our purpose to look at how political, social, economic and technological revolutions have inspired change and shaped our society. Examining the past can help us to understand our modern world.
Furthermore, this class will aim to develop thoughtful, responsible, active citizens who are capable of examining various perspectives and supporting informed opinions on ideas both historical and current.

Writing utensils (Pencil & Pen) Binder with Lined Paper AssessmentStudents in SS 9 will be given opportunities to demonstrate their learning through a variety of projects and assignments. Throughout the year, students will work individually, in pairs or in groups to complete assigned tasks. Assignments and projects will be designed around the BIG IDEAS and curricular competencies as outlined in the Social Studies 8 Curriculum

- Students were able to choose their original innovation (recommended) or a different innovation on which to compose a paragraph demonstrating how THAT particular innovation led to change (a series of falling dominoes). The paragraph template is included on the link above, but should include a strong, clear topic sentence, three logical, sequential ideas (one leading to the next) and a closing sentence.
